Father's Day Spin Tie Cards

With Father's Day fast approaching we got crafting and made these super cute spin art tie and shirt cards for Daddy.

Spin art tie and shirt cards.

What you need:
- A4 coloured card
- white card
- buttons
- strong glue
- scissors
- tape
- salad spinner (we got ours from IKEA)
- acrylic paints
- markers

Set up.

How it works:
We love to make handmade cards for special occasions and we knew Daddy would appreciate the special effort that went into making these. The incorporation of some process art made it even more exciting for both my kids.

I prepared the shirt cards and ties in advance. To make the shirt cards, simply fold an A4 coloured piece of card in half. On the front half, about 5cm from the top, cut approx. 3cm in from both sides. You will also need to cut the top section off the back fold, same thickness.

Slits cut into the sides on the front of shirt the card.

To make the collar, then fold in the flaps down on either side.

Then let your kids choose which buttons they would like to go on the shirt collar. Be sure to use strong adhesive for these.

The next stage is the really fun part- making the spin art ties. Stick one white card tie to the bottom of the salad spinner. Let your child add as many different coloured paint blobs as they like- the brighter the better!

Paint blobs added to tie in salad spinner.

Kids always love the next part- spin, spin, spin!!!! Encourage them to give it a real good spin to get the paint to spread. If after the first spin there is still lots of white showing, your kids can always add more paint and spin again!

Whilst the ties are drying your kids can be decorating the inside of their cards. Big bro drew a cute picture of himself and Daddy, as well as writing I love you and his name. As baby sis is only one, she went more for the scribble effect!

Once the ties were dry we glued them to the cards and they looked so cool!

What I loved most was how proud my kids were of their cards! They literally cannot wait to give them to Daddy!

Super excited baby sis!
Proud big bro!

There are so many different ways you could decorate the ties. Older kids could do most of this project by themselves, and may choose to even add a pattern to the shirt card too! Enjoy!
