Ziploc Watercolor Prints

This process art project most definitely has the 'wow factor'! Added bonus points as kids of all ages can participate.

What you need:

- Ziploc bags- we used the large gallon size
- markers- we used Crayola Tropical Colors
- permanent black marker
- A4 white card (you can also use watercolor paper)
- spray bottle & water
- Tip: contain the mess with a Bumkins Splat Mat

I have to give full credit for this idea to @colormadehappy. I saw her using this technique and couldn't wait to try it out!

How it works:

Using the permanent marker let your kids draw a picture on the white card. I simply asked my 5 yr old to draw a picture of what he loves. He drew his new bike and himself standing next to it.

Next comes the novel part. Let your kids use the markers to cover their Ziploc bag with colors. Encourage them to lean the marker so that they make a strong color mark with the side of the marker rather than the tip.

Make sure the bag is covered with as much color as possible but it doesn't need to be exact.

My son loved getting to color on a unique surface. Also, because the coloring does not need to be exact, younger kids can scribble away on a bag too!

My son loves using the spray bottle so he was excited to squirt some water onto his bag. Try to add water to all parts of the bag, without flooding it!

Then simply lay the picture, black markings side down, on top of the bag. Gently push all areas of the card onto the bag to ensure the color spreads.

Your kids will literally gasp as they carefully peel their drawing away from the bag!

It's such an awesome way to add color to drawings without kids having to color in a traditional way, something that my son rarely has the patience for!

The really cool thing is that when you are done with the bag, just wipe it down and use it again for the next drawing! We could have spent all day doing this!
