Tape Resist Valentine's Card

A nice way to get all ages involved in making their own Valentine's Day cards. So simple to make but yet so vibrant and effective.

A vibrant Valentine's Day card using tape resist painting.

What you need:

- white A4 card (two pieces)
- masking tape or cellotape
- selection of brightly coloured acrylic paints
- thick paintbrushes and water

The set up.

Step 1: Tape a border
Make sure you have some scrap paper behind the white card and tape a border about one inch from the edge of the page. Taping the card to some scrap paper makes sure that it doesn't move around as little one is painting and also protects your table.

Step 2: Fill the page
I gave my son some nice thick paint brushes and asked him to fill the page with which ever colours he wanted. We checked after that there was no white card poking through.

Step 3: Reveal the white and write
Let the paint dry and carefully peel off the tape border. As my son wanted to give the card to his teacher we added some white hearts (hence we needed two pieces of white card) and we wrote some nice messages on the hearts.
