Building Lego towers to work on fine motor skills and counting was lots of fun for my little man.
Lego counting towers. |
What you need:
- Lego bricks
- Lego baseplates (I used Creative QT peel-and-stick building block baseplates as part of our new Lego table)
- wooden numbers 1-10
How it works:
I love teaming up Lego and Maths as they work so well together and always engage my son nicely. I simply set out the wooden numbers in the grid and said to my son that it was a tower challenge. I allowed him to choose the size and colours of bricks used. He counted out each tower after completing it.
Carefully constructing the '7' brick tower. |
Completed 1-10 towers. |
Of course we also then spent a long time seeing who could build the highest tower which was great for counting practise beyond 10.
