Nail Salon

A fun nail salon role play that allows Mummy just for one second to pretend she is actually having a relaxing manicure.

Nail salon role play.

What you need:
- white card and black marker for tracing hands
- ice tray full of acrylic paints, cotton bud in each colour
- ice tray full of 'nail varnishes' (Dove shampoo mixed with the tiniest blob of acrylic paint), cotton bud in each colour

Making the 'nail varnishes'.

How it works:
The first part of the activity involved my son using the cotton buds and acrylic paint to paint the nails on the white card hands. We spoke about trying to keep a 'steady hand' and how to put the paint on neatly. He enjoyed getting to choose the colours by himself.

Delicately painting the nails on the white card.
Making the nails as colourful as possible.

The second part of the activity was the fun part. My son loved getting to paint Mummy's nails in rainbow colours. The pretend nail varnish is great as it is nice and thick and therefore easy for little hands to apply but also as it is just shampoo and a tiny bit of paint it washes off very easily after (thank goodness!!).

Enjoying his new profession!
Nice colour choice little man.
Concentrating so hard to do a neat job for Mummy.

This was such a fun activity to do with my son, whilst also having the benefit of developing his fine motor skills. The only problem is that it left me longing for a real manicure and pedicure (no offence little man!).
