Woom Bike 3: So much more than just a bike!

We knew that we wanted to surprise our son with a new bike for his 5th birthday, but we were struggling to find 'the one'. He rides everyday, so we were looking for something a little more than just an average kids bike. We certainly found it! Here's a 100% honest review of the Woom 3 Bike and Woom Helmet from a very impressed family!

1. Age Appropriate

As we toured round bike shop after bike shop we felt a little frustrated. They had great bikes for older kids, but hardly any selection for the under tens. Woom have six different models which cover kids from 1.5 yrs old to 14 yrs old. You can go on their website, enter your child's age and height, and they'll recommend the best age appropriate model. For my son, it was the Woom 3!

2. Easy Assembly

Once you order, the bike arrives quickly, with regular email updates of the order status (always useful!). We couldn't believe how easy the bike was to assemble. We (well more accurately, my husband), simply had to attach the pedals and handle bars, tighten them up, add the safety light, and then adjust the seat. That was it!

3. Attention to Detail

The technical features of this bike are impressive. We are not cycling experts, but there were so many aspects of the product that were above our expectations. Let's start with the frame. The huge appeal for us with this bike was it's incredible lightweight frame, but we'll talk more about that later. The frame has a low center of gravity and a high ride position, which creates a stable and safe position when cycling.

The bike has front and rear brakes which are color coded. The rear brake handle is green which matches the green rear brake pads- this made explaining to our son how to brake without causing the bike to stall abruptly so much easier!

Another great feature is the smooth and dynamic chain guard.

We also love that the bike has a kickstand. We were driven insane as we previously watched our son dump his bike on the ground after his ride. No more! He can independently use the kickstand which helps to keep the bike in good condition.

4. Lightweight

Our little guy loves taking his bike into the woods to enjoy some 'off road riding'. So picking a bike which he could lift independently was pretty important. From our research Woom bikes are the lightest on the market. The Woom 3 weighs in at just 12.35 lbs. Our 5 year old had no trouble lifting it over woodland obstacles.

5. Kid-Proof!

The Woom 3 is built to last. We are totally confident that the reason for buying our son's next bike will simply be because he has outgrown it, not due to the bike deteriorating over time. All materials used are extremely high quality. The frame is made from lightweight aluminum and is built to last.

The tires are Kenda Small Block 1.5" lightweight low-profile balloon tires and they can easily handle a variety of terrain. Even in parts of the woods which were damp and slippery, the bike looked completely stable.

We couldn't write a blog about Woom bikes without giving a huge two thumbs up to their newly released helmet. Not only has it already been honored with innovation, design, and most importantly, safety awards, it's also totally rad looking! Available in all matching bike colors, this helmet will not only keep your child safe, but it'll make them never want to take their helmet off!

There's so many great features to the helmet, including an easy-to-use magnetic buckle. Our favorite thing about the helmet was how well it fit our son. His previous helmet never quite looked secure, or comfortable for that matter. The Woom helmet is easily adjustable, and will therefore grow with your child.

There are also some awesome touches, like a mini visor built in at no cost to visibility or weight.

The helmet also has many carefully designed ventilation features, along with important extra protection in all the right places.

Well if we haven't convinced you that Woom bikes are the way to go then I don't think we ever will! We genuinely have no cons when it comes to this product. It is clear that this company put their heart and soul into producing the best bikes possible for kids to foster a love of riding. Thanks Woom Bikes!
