We love tape resist art! It's such an easy way to add a wow-factor to your art session, without loads of preparation, cost or clean up! When I spotted these little canvases in Dollar Tree, I knew exactly how we were going to use them!
Big bro helped me to use the painter's tape to mark out my kids' first name initial on each canvas. In the meantime, baby sis was having a blast covering herself in pieces of painter's tape! All great for fine motor skill development!
Then it was time to start adding some color to their canvases. We opted to use our Neon Kwik Stix as we wanted these canvases to be as bright and bold as possible, and I really didn't want the mess that paints create!
Both kids enjoyed the bright neon colors and spent time covering their canvas as they wished. I really liked how the Kwik Stix left thick marks and didn't smudge as the kids mixed the colors. Using markers would have taken way too long!
Once the canvases were full of color, big bro helped me to peel off the tape to reveal lovely white initials. It was great that we didn't have to wait for paint to dry as the kids were excited to see their masterpieces straight away!
They were so proud of their end canvases and we decided that they would make perfect signs for their room which they share.
Baby sis was so pleased that she hugged her sign for a good ten minutes :-)
