Build a Big Red Barn

Bringing one of our favorite books to life with this fun challenge to build a Big Red Barn.

22 month old baby sis is obsessed with animals so it's no surprise she loves to read Big Red Barn by Margaret Wise Brown. I set up a cute little invitation to build for her using the book and her Picasso Tiles Bristle Building Blocks Farm Set.

She literally could not wait to get her hands on the farm animals! The Bristle Blocks are so easy for her to build with. She carefully placed all of the animals on the grass, naming each one as she did it... and of course adding sound effects! Then she started to build the Big Red Barn. This required me to help a little but she was able to do most of it by herself.

Once she had her structure in place she spent a long time pointing out the animals in her barn and the ones in the book. This was great for her vocabulary development!

She also loved moving her animals around the barn. Apparently some of them preferred living on the roof!

This was such a fun little project to do with her and it was great to see her enjoying some STEM learning, even though she isn't two yet. It was great watching her exploring the animals and blocks!
