BiOBUDDi Building Blocks

BiOBUDDis are the 'new kids on the block' and they have a lot of learning to offer!

We were kindly gifted the BiOBUDDi Fruits Learning Set by Safari Ltd. for purpose of review. All images and opinions used in this post are our own. This post contains affiliate links.

We are big fans of Safari Ltd. figurines, especially their Toobs, and have been purchasing them ourselves for years. When they asked us if we’d like to test out their latest product, BiOBUDDi building blocks I was a little hesitant as I wasn’t so sure what would be different about them compared to our LEGO and DUPLO blocks.

The biggest difference with BiOBUDDi blocks is that they are not just another plastic toy. Much thought and care has been put into them being completely environmentally friendly, with the blocks being made of eco-friendly, bio-based material that is sustainable and recyclable. All blocks and stickers are made of “Green PE” derived from leftovers of sugarcane plants, and can be recycled in the same way normal polyethylene plastics are recycled. Pretty cool right?!

2 yr old baby sis was delighted to see so many bright and beautiful fruit stickers on her blocks. I liked that as a parent you could choose how many of the fruit stickers to use. This is great because you can start off simple with just a few and then as your child develops you can add more. A small baseplate is also included which acts as the perfect building base and also block learning base.

Aside from the obvious but awesome activity of building with them, the blocks are great for color matching, fruit matching and even counting. Baby sis loved stacking up the fruits, matching the big and small pictures, and even making shopping lists.

BiOBUDDi blocks were a big hit with baby sis. She loved the fun fruit theme and that there were white blocks and colorful blocks. I like that they can be used as learning manipulatives, as well as for building. They are very well made with a smooth texture to the blocks and stickers. There is obviously a need to explain that the stickers are not for peeling off but so far this has not been a problem for us. I think this is a fair trade for Safari Ltd. persevering to make such an environmentally friendly product. A quality product by a great company.
