Story-time is one of my favorite parts of the day and it is something we never miss. Three stories and lots of cuddles and conversations! It can be really fun to add a novel twist so I decided to put together these cute little reading lanterns to pair up with some of our favorite Valentine's books.
Materials needed:
- Glo Pals, we used one red and one purple
- water
- container with lid, I found these fun painter's bucket style containers at Party City and loved the patterns on them
- a selection of fun Valentine's themed books
How it works:
These are so easy to make! Simply add some water to the container, drop in the Glo Pal and put the lid on (securely!!). You can always add some tape if you are worried about it spilling. Put the lanterns in a dark room with the books and wait for the excited reactions!
I wish I'd captured the 'wow awwwwwwwesoooome' reaction on video from my son! He thought they were pretty cool!
He couldn't wait to open up his favorite Valentine's book, Love Monster, and read under his glowing red lantern!
Meanwhile, baby sis was way too mesmerized by the glowing container to even open a book...
It was awesome to see big bro experimenting and investigating with the lanterns.
I loved the added energy and enthusiasm that this added to our (very extended!) story-time. It gives me so much joy to watch my kids enthralled by new sensory experiences.
Best of all, when you are done with your stories, empty the water out of the bucket, and the Glo Pal turns off, ready for tomorrow's light up activity!
