Nothing beats the inspiration that comes from a mask and cape for kids, so why not decorate your own?!

What you need:
- white masks and capes from Party City
- Kwik Stix- we used the Classic colors, Neon colors and the Metalix colors sets
- our Bumkins Splat Mat helped to contain the mess
They chose to decorate their capes first. Mum and Dad had to help pull the fabric tight to make it easier for the kids to draw on, but the Kwik Stix left a nice and bold mark and were easy to use.
Big bro got straight to work drawing a picture of himself as a superhero on the back of his cape. Baby sis and Dad worked together to decorate her cape.
We put the capes aside to dry (which literally took a matter of minutes!), and got started on the masks.
The Kwik Stix glided over the masks so easily! Big bro decided to make a 'two face' style mask, whilst baby sis went for more of a blusher and lipstick approach!
Once the masks were complete it was time to try them on!
It was only a matter of minutes before both kids were in their full costumes!
It was so fun to see all of the imaginative play which resulted from the costumes. Both kids were zooming round the house on superhero missions together. I love that they now have these to keep in their dress up box for future play.

How it works:
The whole point of this craft is to encourage creative play, with the added bonus of some serious mark making on an unconventional canvas. My 2 year old and 5 yr old were so excited getting to use their Kwik Stix on their white masks and capes. They chose to decorate their capes first.
