Revamp some plain building blocks by enjoying some spin art with them!
What you need:
- small wooden blocks (we got ours as part of a mini Jenga-style set at The Dollar Store)
- salad spinner (ours is from IKEA)
- acrylic paints (we used IKEA MALA neon paints)

Both my 2 yr old and 5 yr old go nuts for any form of spin art! As soon as they see the salad spinner they know what's coming. So when I saw this activity on @homegrownfriends I knew we had to try it out too. I set out the materials and let them loose with adding paint to some blocks in the spinner.
They think it is awesome being allowed to squirt all the colors into the spinner! I loved how they worked together on this.
Once the blocks had a generous covering of paint it was time to put the lid on.
Then it was time to spin, spin, spin!
The kids gave such a cute gasp when we opened the lid and saw the color soaked blocks. If you think they aren't colorful enough, you can always add more paint and spin again.
I carefully took the colorful blocks out of the spinner and left them to dry on some paper towel. Then they were all set for some serious play!
It was amazing to see how excited my kids were to play with these blocks, simply because they had been involved in decorating them.
Big brother got straight to work on making some 'rainbow castles', whilst bay sis was happy simply stacking towers.
Adding some paint totally revitalized these plain old wooden blocks! I can't wait to see all of the creative play that comes out of this fun activity.
