Creating tales of vehicle adventures by simply re-arranging the kitchen chairs.
Beep beep, chair car coming through! |
What you need:
- chairs
- people
- a huge imagination!
How it works:
Whilst I was sweeping the kitchen floor I had to move the chairs into the corridor. My son came running into the kitchen excitedly exclaiming that there was a train in the corridor. He proceeded to make the whole family sit on a train carriage (i.e. a chair). This went on for a good half hour, with us all changing chairs and making up stories of where the train was heading.
On the caboose waiting for the passengers to get on board the train. |
All aboard the family train! |
A few days later my son started to re-arrange the chairs in the kitchen. This time he decided he wanted to build a car.
The chair car. |
After the car I challenged him to think of other vehicles that he could build. He came up with a tuk tuk (two chairs at the back and one at the front), an airplane (single line of chairs) and also two motorbikes racing (single chairs next to each other).
My favourite thing about this activity was that it brought out so many great adventures from my son's imagination. It did mean that sweeping the kitchen floor took rather a long time though!
