I saw this wooden train for $1 in Walmart and couldn't pass up the opportunity. Nothing complicated, just a boy who loves trains and a wooden train that needed painting.

What you need:
- wooden train (or any type of wooden vehicle, available from Walmart and Michael's)
- selection of acrylic paints and paint brushes
- large piece of paper stuck to the table
How it works:
As I said, this activity took no introduction to my son. He was over the moon and knew exactly what he needed to do. He enjoyed inspecting the train first to assess what type it was.
Then he chose which colour he would use to paint the various parts of the train. He was very careful with his painting but did require some help to hold the train so that he could paint all of the different parts.

Once he had finished painting he asked me to draw some tracks and he enjoyed taking his train for a ride.
