DIY Spin Art Spinners

Getting the whole family involved isn't easy! Here's a great way to spin up some games night fun, process art style!

DIY Spin Art Spinners

What you need:
- salad spinner (we got ours from IKEA)
- paints (the more colors the better!)
- white card
- pencils

All set for some spin art.

How it works:
There aren't many together art projects that can easily involve the whole family, but this worked a treat. Trace around the bottom of the salad spinner insert to create white card circles. Tape one to the bottom fo the salad spinner and let your kids go wild squirting different colors of paint in.

Add different colored blobs of paint to the card.
Let your kids have total free reign over color selection, just advise them to go steady on the volume of paint! Once they are done, give the salad spinner a good whirl!

Working together to spin their paint.
My kids were so in awe of the whirling motion and noise of this process! But the real kick comes when you tell them to open the lid... baby sis' face says it all!

That's one impressed little lady!
The fun part is then letting your kids continue to add paint blobs until they are happy with the final masterpiece.

More paint!
The spinning action is awesome for fine and gross motor skills. Even Mum and Dad quite enjoyed this part of the project!

Hands on learning in action!
The final effect is pretty cool, and best of all each family member's circle comes out uniquely awesome!

Spin art effect.
Peel out the card and leave it to dry. Once dry, insert a pencil through the middle of the card circles. Voila, now you have some awesome DIY Spin Art Spinners!

Super simple DIY spinners are ready to go!
We had such a giggle trying to keep our spinner going for the longest amount of time. Baby sis may have been more interested in just taking the pencil in and out of hers, but she sure loved to watch Daddy and big bro demonstrate!

Family fun with a twist!

Pretty simple right?! Definitely one of our most successful together art projects, primarily because it was so hands on for the kids and it certainly had the wow factor. So go on, give it a whirl and have some family fun!
