Make your own cute little laptops for your kids to enjoy some office role play with! Plenty of letter learning too!

DIY Cardboard Laptop

What you need:
- cardboard box (we used a medium size Amazon box)
- Letter and number stickers (these were from Target)
- craft glue
- scissors
- chalk

- chalk board paper (from Party City)

How it works:

I was super excited to put this little project together for my kids. They are both obsessed with typing on my laptop whilst I try to work (both endearing and infuriating at the same time!). So I figured I may as well make them their own laptops for some fun role play.

At the office!

The construction was super simple. I cut off the end panels of the cardboard box. These worked perfectly as they already had a fold that held at a good angle for the screen. Then it was a case of placing on the stickers as the keys. I also added numbers along the top.

The final stage was to add the 'screen'. I decided to use chalkboard paper as I am planning to do some fun word activities with my 4 year old. I cut the paper to size and used craft glue to attach it.

I set the laptops up on a 'desk' and made a little workstation for each of my kids.

Baby sis was simply besotted with her own computer. She enjoyed copying big bro and pretended to type.

In the meantime, big bro went into full businessman mode and was checking emails, writing presentations and monitoring his shares! He took his laptop with him everywhere!

There was so much excitement when Daddy got home from work. He was invited into the office for a full laptop workshop.

I'm looking forward to using these DIY laptops for lots more role play and play based learning. I think they are such a fun way to expose both kids to letters!
