How it works:
I love process art activities because they enable both my 1 yr old and 4 yr old to be involved, without any great expectations of a set outcome. And let's face it, monsters are always exciting to make!
Start off by folding the A4 pieces of card in half. Then symmetrically draw a monster on each piece of card using black marker. Big bro and I did this part together. It was a great way to get creative about how crazy our monsters could be.
The next part is simple- choose one half of the monster and cover him or her in blobs of paint!
Using squirt bottles of paint makes this activity accessible even for the youngest of artists. Baby sis needed a little help to start with but soon got into the squirting motion and loved being let loose with the paint!
I did the next part slightly differently for baby sis and big bro. For baby sis we folded the card in half and then she used a rolling pin to squish the blobs of paint.
Big bro was happy to use his hands to squish the paint. Although baby sis also insisted he used a rolling pin as well just to be sure!
As the monsters were unfolded the kids loved seeing how bright and crazy they looked!
We let the paint dry and then cut out the monsters. The final stage was to decorate them with dot stickers, googly eyes and black marker. Again, I liked that bog bro and baby sis could both be involved in this stage.
These little blob monsters turned out pretty cool! I love how different each one looks and that even baby sis who is only one, ended up with a crazy little character.
