Blocks Rock! really does rock!

My kids love building blocks. Whether it is LEGOs, DUPLOs, wooden blocks, or big cardboard blocks, we spend hours playing and learning with blocks. When I saw this new game called Blocks Rock! it was such a lightbulb moment- why don't we have this already!!

The game comes in a sturdy and well-made carry case, making it ideal for on-the-go entertainment during the holiday season. Inside you get 24 solid wooden blocks of different shapes, sizes and colors, a bell, and two sets of building cards (one for beginner level and one for intermediate level).

The concept is simple- flip a card and create the build using the wooden blocks as fast as you can. When you are done, ring the bell.

You can play solo, just enjoying the challenge of replicating the structure on the cards.

But the real fun happens when you play two-player! Adding a competitive edge by playing against an opponent, makes it an exciting race to ring the bell first.

My 5 year old could not get enough of playing Blocks Rock! against his Dad. The thrill of having to build quickly but accurately was great for encouraging so many developmental skills (as well as getting to beat Dad!).

The main benefits of this game are huge. Fine motor skills are being worked to the bone, whilst kids are constantly exposed to color and shape recognition demands. For my son something he often struggles with is patience and dealing with losing. The first few games he panicked and found it difficult to make solid builds. He soon realized the importance of taking his time to get a good structure in place. Dealing with losing took a little longer to master!

The game in itself is enough to make it a firm favorite, but throw in a cool Blocks Rock! 3D Companion app and this game is off the charts cool! The app is free to download and very kid-friendly. My son enjoyed playing single player, having to replicate the builds against a timer.

The builds on the app are in 3D and rotate which I think added a fun challenge for my son. He had to get used to transferring what he saw in 3D on the screen to a build with his blocks. I loved how it sparked his imagination so much.

As you can see from the photos, this game really captured my son's interest and creativity. Even without the app and game cards, both my kids spent ages just being inspired to make their own build challenges.

Blocks Rock! gets all the thumbs up in the world from this family! My kids thrive off play prompts and although I love being the source of their play prompts, from time to time it is so beneficial to have a fresh challenge and Blocks Rock! nails this. It is great for bringing the family together through creativity and STEM learning, as well as enabling us to enjoy some friendly competition!
