Fluffy Heart Prints

Combining some sensory play with art to make these cute shaving foam print hearts.

What you need:
- white foam hearts (or you could use card)
- shaving foam
- piece of thick card to put shaving foam on
- wooden spoon or spatula
food coloring (we used red, purple and pink)
- kebab stick or toothpick
- ruler

How it works:
This is a really fun way to combine sensory play and process art! Start off by squirting out a thin layer of shaving foam to cover the black A4 card, and then add drops of food coloring to the foam.

This next part is mesmerizing. Using the kebab sticks, make swirls and lines through the colors, the effect it leaves is really pretty!

This was really nice for 23 month old baby sis to do because it was exposing her to a completely novel method of process art with a new sensory play material.

She loved swirling the stick round and round! Once all of the colors are mixed into a beautiful pattern, it's time to get printing.

Simply place one of the white foam hearts gently on top of the colorful foam. Very gently give it a little push to make sure the colors contact the foam. Peel it off to see a lovely pattern.

To then remove the excess shaving foam from the foam hearts, just use a ruler to scrape it all of! Leave the hearts to dry and then decide how to bet use them. I think we might add some pink ribbon to ours to make them into some love-themed bunting ready for February 14.
