This activity was a lifesaver during our recent relocation from Thailand to America. It has been used on flights, during all those long boring appointments that are so tough with a toddler, and, equally as important, to allow Mummy enough time to get her caffeine fix at Starbucks.
- set of small travel size blocks (the ones pictured are from Thailand but you could use Lego, Duplo or any other type of coloured blocks)
- use PowerPoint to create a series of 'tower cards'. I just used a rectangle shape and filled it with various colours and put various numbers of blocks on each page. I then laminated them, hole punched the top left corner and attached 1-10 towers into a flip set using a key chain. Happy to share the PowerPoint by email.
The activity:
I let my son choose a flip set to use. He started with the lower numbers and worked his way through the set, copying the colour order of the blocks to make a matching tower.

It was nice to also see my son just enjoying creating his own 'crazy towers' using the blocks. He has since also made signals for his trains and bridges for his cars.
