Live Portraits!

A fun interactive art project to explore with your kids. They'll love being the masterpiece!

What you need:
- A4 white card
- pencil
- scissors
Neon Kwik Stix
- Classic Colors Kwik Stix

How it works:
This is such a fun twist on portraits... instead of drawing or painting the person, why not design the frame and let your kids be a live portrait in the frame!

Start off by cutting a face-sized hole in each piece of A4 white card.

You can use anything to decorate the frame- paint, markers, glitter, stickers, just use whatever you think will work best for your kids. For us we always turn to Kwik Stix. I love that they leave large bold marks, but minus the mess. 18 month old baby sis is able to add sufficient markings and use a range of colors. Big bro also loves the smooth application, and the fact that they dry so quickly means he doesn't get covered in smudges!

I set out all of the color options and let my kids decorate their frames however they wished. I joined in too as I knew we'd all have fun after with some live portrait role play!

Once we were done decorating the frames, we had a great time holding them up to our faces and pretending to be famous portrait paintings.

We even started to talk about the famous Mona Lisa painting. We found a fun video on YouTube which showed how it appears that the eyes follow you as you walk around the painting. Big bro was fascinated by this and wanted to make his own version of the video!

Such a great way to bring art to life and introduce a very well known portrait painting to my kids!
