The excitement of camping for kids is huge... even when it's just pretend!

Camping is one of those family activities that I know my kids will love, but they aren't quite ready for (nor am I!). Big brother is 5 and baby sister is 19 months, so I think it's just a little too soon for us. But that doesn't mean that they can't enjoy a camping experience! In fact, with our new Picasso Tiles Toy Camping Set it was just like the real deal (minus the sleepless night)!
The set comes with a tent which is always a winner with kids! There are also some pretty cool working accessories! My kids could not get enough of the lamp, mini camping stove, and of course the walkie talkies!
I loved overhearing them role playing their camping trip. From waking up and cooking breakfast, sending out warning signals with the whistle, digging up treasure, telling a spooky story, and keeping an eye on the time for bed... their camping adventure had every possible experience covered!
A set up like this is perfect for encouraging creative play and imaginative conversations with your kids. My two spent hours 'cooking' their meals, animal spotting with the binoculars, pretending they were lost and using the compass to find their way back to the tent, and of course cozying up 'under the stars' with their lamp. This was all inspired by the extensive range of accessories included in the set.
It is worth noting that although the camping accessories are a ton of fun, they are not built to last for years. With my kids I just explained that they needed to be looked after so that they will last. Be sure to have a good supply of AA batteries too in order to avoid disappointment as many accessories need them!
My kids have already been asking to 'go camping' again! Maybe next time we will experience a 'camp in' inside the basement! Happy camping friends!
