Let your child enjoy being an ocean hero as they learn all about the problem of plastic pollution in our oceans.
We were kindly gifted this personalized 'The Ocean Adventure' book from United Letters for purpose of review. All opinions and images are our own and completely genuine.
Books are a big deal in our house. Both my 19 month old and 5 year old have always enjoyed story time, as well as flicking through the pages by themselves. When United Letters asked if we would like to test out their latest eco-friendly book, The Ocean Adventure, it was an immediate 'yes please!'.
Before I even talk about the book itself, I have to mention the fact that the book arrived in the most gorgeous wrapping paper, with a darling card for my son. Little touches like this show the love and care put into the product.
Once the book was unwrapped, my little guy was so excited to read his name in the title! This is his first personalized book and he LOVED it! He also thought it was pretty cool how much the character in the book looked like him (you can personalize this too!).
The story took my son on a magical adventure through the ocean. He befriends Myrtle the turtle, who shows him how all of the plastic pollution is causing so many problems for the sea creatures. I loved that the illustrations included pollution items that are relatable to kids. For example, there is a juice box floating near the sea creatures on one page. 19 month old baby sis really related to this which made the story accessible for her, as well as big bro.
The illustrations are so stunning! Made using watercolors, they really help to bring the story to life for kids and add some serious magic to the tale.
Not only does this story educate the reader about the problems our oceans are facing, the product itself is made from sustainable non-toxic materials. For every copy sold, part of the proceeds also go to the Coral Restoration Foundation. The back page of the book includes some tips for kids to encourage them to proactively help keep the ocean environment healthy. This page was a great discussion prompt with my son.
I really can't say enough good things about this book. It has it all- a strong moral to the story, beautiful illustrations, a sprinkling of magic, and of course the novelty of your child being the main character!
